It’s almost Christmas, hooray! I am definitely listening to an acoustic Christmas playlist from Spotify as I write this. This month while eating copious amounts of cookies, I also want to talk about your wedding day emergency kit! If you are thinking, “Do I even need an emergency kit?” I applaud your easy-going mentality, but yes, yes you do need an emergency kit (or a coordinator who will have one for you). I cannot tell you how much I love the feeling of hearing someone say “I wish I had a (insert thing here)” and I can yell “I have one!” It feels like the heavens open, gold light shines down, and angels sing hallelujah. It’s just a great moment. However, if you do not plan on having a coordinator to help on your wedding day, I highly suggest emailing this blog to your maid of honor and tasking her with putting together a wedding day emergency kit.
What to Include:
Travel Size Deodorant
Mints (Not gum. No chomping in videos is allowed.)
Bobby Pins
Hair Bands (normal ones and the little clear plastic kind)
Tampons (Hopefully not for the bride because…you know)
Sewing Kit
Safety Pins
Assorted Painkillers (Advil, Tylenol etc.)
Hand Sanitizer
Lotion
Earring Backs
Floss
White Chalkboard Chalk
Tissue
Bottle Opener
There are probably some surprising items on this list and I have highlighted a few for you below.
Sewing Kit: Trust me. Things go wrong with dresses all the time. Sometimes it is the wedding dress, sometimes it is the mother of the groom’s dress. Having the ability to sew on a button or fix a bustle will solve a problem in two minutes that could bother someone the whole wedding.
Floss: This is like wonder string (like tinsel used by elves in The Santa Clause). I have used floss for reasons from fixing decor, to tieing up dresses to actually flossing teeth.
White Chalkboard Chalk: This is the easiest and quickest way to cover up a stain on a wedding dress! Sometimes those Tide-to-go pens can turn certain fabrics yellow and we do not want to find that out on your wedding day. If you have a stain, chalk quickly rubs on over the stain and you are good to go!
I hope this post has helped you think of new things to keep with you on your wedding day, and if you have any ideas about other great items, let me know!
